Anime original de A-1 Pictures y TROYCA con guión de Gen Urobuchi, banda sonora de Hiroyuki Sawano y dirección de Ei Aoki. En 1972, se descubre un portal en la superficie de la Luna gracias al cual la humanidad entra en contacto con los habitantes de Marte. Un encuentro que conllevará una primera guerra espacial. El anime está dividido en dos partes, estrenadas en verano de 2014 e invierno de 2015.
